ASSISTANT TEACHER INFO

We have 2 separate Assistant Teacher Programs. If you are interested in applying for these positions please read over the following and submit your application by Monday August 26th.

MENTOR PROGRAM: Those dancers age 13 and up who are interested in volunteering their time in assisting a class this year will be known as our Mentors. They will follow the requirements below and learn how to be an effective assistant by training alongside one of our staff members and gaining hands on experience with their specified class. Please note: If accepted this is a volunteer basis only.

APPRENTICE PROGRAM: This is for the more serious assistants age 16 and up. These dancers must have at least 2 years experience in assisting to be considered. They will train alongside one of our staff members and follow the requirements below. Their focus will be on being more of a leader in class and taking their teaching skills to the next level. If accepted, they will receive a monthly discount on their tuition.

REQUIREMENTS

• You are representing Premiere Dance Academy at all times. Please follow the Competition Contract Rules
• Exhibit strong leadership skills and the ability to lead with poise and respect for all (including Instructors, fellow dancers and Staff)
• Be at every class and rehearsal and be there on time
• Lead the team in warm up and stretch
• Take Attendance
• Help with bathroom trips
• Assist dancers with shoes
• Help keep the studio picked up and clean after each class
• Maintain a sense of professionalism (no screaming, running, talking, wrestling)
• Remind dancers to respect the studio (no food, no pop or juice, no hanging on barres, hands off mirrors)
• Help with hair, makeup, and costumes at rehearsals, competitions and performances
• Take initiative when Instructors are working with other groups and work with the remaining dancers
• Help manage music as needed
• Absolutely NO cell phone use is permitted (exception would be using phone to run music)
• Absolutely NO sitting on floor or doing homework
• It is your responsibility to find a substitute if for any reason you are unable to Assist your designated class
• We will be monitoring all facebook, snapchat, instagram, tiktok, etc. This means that we will be checking to see that your language is appropriate, behavior is appropriate and anything said about Premiere, other dancers is acceptable. This is a position that represents Premiere Dance Academy as well as your team and we will take this seriously.
• Assistants will be required to fill out a mid-season self evaluation the week of January 16th to check in on your Assistant requirements.

Assistants may have additional responsibilities than what is listed above as needed.
